    PAPUA - The 501st Para Raider Infantry Battalion Task Force (Satgas Yonif 501/Bajra Yudha Kostrad), under the HABEMA Operational Command in Papua, brought hope and care to Kamat Village, Maybrat Regency, Southwest Papua Province, by offering free medical services on Thursday, December 5, 2024. Tasked with ensuring border security between Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, the unit also embraces a mission of compassion, addressing the healthcare challenges faced by remote communities.

    Armed with medical supplies and an unwavering commitment to service, the team of healthcare professionals from Yonif 501/BY delivered mobile health care directly to residents’ doorsteps. The services ranged from health check-ups and treatment to educational sessions on hygiene and disease prevention. The warm reception by Kamat Village residents underscored the critical need for such initiatives in underserved regions.

    “This program is a lifeline for our village, ” expressed Junialis, Head of Kamat Village. “Many of our residents face difficulties accessing healthcare due to distance and cost. The support from Yonif 501/BY is not only appreciated but invaluable for our community.”

    The activity reflects Yonif 501/BY’s broader mission to strengthen ties with the local population through meaningful social and humanitarian outreach. Residents of all ages, from children to the elderly, were attended to with care and professionalism. The medical team also took time to emphasize the importance of preventive healthcare, fostering awareness that empowers the community to safeguard their well-being proactively.

    Lieutenant Colonel Infantry Yahkya Wisnu Arianto, S.Sos., M.Han., Commander of Yonif 501/BY, highlighted the importance of the initiative, stating, “Our goal is to enhance the quality of life for Kamat Village residents through improved health services. By doing so, we hope to enable them to lead healthier, more productive lives.”

    The efforts were lauded by Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, Commander of HABEMA, who noted, “The dedication shown by Satgas Yonif 501/BY underscores TNI’s unwavering commitment to serving the people of Papua, not only in security but also in vital areas like health.
